Beautiful Weather Greets Players for Opening Day
Opening Day Day festivities were held recently on a beautiful, but cool, spring day.
The festivities began with the traditional parade from the H. Olive Day School to the Majors field at the Freeman Centennial School. There, some young T-Ball players threw out the ceremonial first pitch after all of this year's baseball and softball teams were introduced to the crowd by Little League President Brian French.
The day also had some special moments: a moment of silence for Norfolk resident Erik Ward, the presentation of Joseph M. DiRienzo, III as the winner of this year's Second Annual Joseph M. DiRienzo Jr. Memorial Scholarship winner, and lifetime achievement awards to Karen Fruci, Steve Conley, and Jim Schmidt. Check out the photos!

Local Little Leagues Partner to Offer Challenger Baseball Program
Margaret Chaisson , a Board Member of Foxboro's Little League program, has asked us to pass along some information to area families of children with special needs.
Foxborough is partnering with many other communities to work with the Challenger
program run by Norwood Little League. Most towns do not have sufficient numbers of children with special needs to warrant a league, but many communities have enough children to field a team, or the children are welcome to join one of the existing teams.
Foxborough has worked hard this year to get the word out that there is an alternative for children who may not be comfortable with the typical baseball offerings.
For more information about this great program, please contact Margaret Chaisson.
