The Norfolk Baseball Experience is a result of our Volunteer’s time and dedication, if you would like to help out please feel free to Contact any of our Board Members or League Directors.
For those of you who would like to volunteer to either Manage, Coach, or help as a Team Practice Assistant; please make sure you register as a volunteer and provide all the requested information. This information will allow us to perform a CORI search, which is a requirement for all our Managers, Coaches, and Practice Assistants’ prior to working with the team.
A motion to change our league structure was initiated and approved at our November 23rd meeting. As a result of that motion. We will assign players to AAA and Majors based on Grade, alongside of baseball age. This change has been made to recognize the importance of players to be able to play in the spring with their grade based peer group. For 2017 this change will affect only the AAA and Majors level. All Other leagues will be set up according to baseball age as in 2016.
We anticipate all 3rd and 4th graders will play AAA and all 5th, 6th, and 7th graders (who are baseball age 12) will play Majors. Of special note, all 7th grade baseball age 12s are eligible to play 13rd old Babe Ruth Prep. Another exception is if a player’s baseball age prevents them from being able to play with their grade, an example being a player’s baseball age is too old to play with their respective grade.
This new realignment is only for our Spring League and if there are any changes to our Summer Program will be communicated in the Summer Registration Process.
Norfolk Baseball will still be having a spring Tryout/Evaluation session for the purpose of evaluating a player‘s skills’, to help ensure a balanced league. Returning Players to Majors will are not required to be evaluated, all other AAA and Majors Candidates are required to be are required to be evaluated, unless the absence is approved by both the League President, Director, and Commissioner.
League Age: Please note that all ages listed below are Baseball Ages, which are determined by Babe Ruth and Cal Ripken League. Baseball age is the player's age on April 30, 2016.
Please see this age chart to determine your baseball age.
